NGCodec congratulates the Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding (JCT-VC) on the approval of the new HEVC / H.265 video compression standard; Free HEVC compliance test clips

January 25, 2013 – San Jose, CA – today exited 6 months of stealth development to announce the company and provide first information on its HEVC encoder semiconductor IP offering and free HEVC 4K compliance test clips.

Ten years after the development of the world’s most popular video codec (AVC/H.264), the collaboration of MPEG and ITU (JCT-VC) has again delivered a codec, which can reduce the bit rates of video by 50% whilst delivering the same quality. This is a huge achievement and a credit to the skills and dedication of the JCT-VC.

NGCodec is building a state of the art HEVC video encoder, which will first be implemented in FPGA’s. Later the same design will be optimized for ASSP’s. The video encoder is available for license now for implementation in FPGA’s targeting the following markets: enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence, real time broadcast encoders, wireless cameras and surveillance applications.
