DIFFERENT WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES

NGCodec is using standard-based 802.11ac WiFi and 4.5/5G LTE wireless technologies. 802.11ad 60GHz transmission suffers from huge attenuation when propagating through physical barriers, including people. Given the line of sight requirements for 60GHz, the placement of the antennas becomes very complex, as shown in the table below.

DIFFERENT COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGIES

NGCodec uses ISO/IEC/ITU-T MPEG standard-based H.265/HEVC compression. The international standard was completed in January 2013 and only defines the decoding, allowing differentiation and innovation in the encoder design. H.265/HEVC provides the best compression, allowing for headroom for error correction and higher resolutions and frame rates as well as data rates that can be delivered from the Cloud over 4.5/5G LTE and fiber networks. 4K H.265/HEVC standard video hardware decoding is well supported in current mobile chipsets, allowing off-the-shelf low cost and lower power mobile HMD to be used. In 2015, additional v2 profiles were added to the H.265/HEVC specification, providing improved compression on multi-view stereo and computer graphics (screen coding) content.
